The city of Poole is a popular summer holiday destination because of its great beaches and location as well as it's proximity to the popular seaside destination of Bournemouth.
Owing to the many tourists in high season, Poole has a wide variety of lodgings available from high-class to budget-friendly.
Poole has some interesting local hotels such as the Antelope Inn or The Mansion House. It also has some larger chain hotels such as The Holiday Inn Express, however, there are many guest houses and bed and breakfasts available for those on a tighter budget.
Poole itself is rather spread out along the east side of the harbour with a popular dockside area and suburbs scattered over the mildly undulating landscape. Hotels and other accomodation can be found in all these areas, although the waterfront area is among the most expensive real estate in Britain, and this is reflected in hotel prices here. There are still some affordable and comfortable options further back.
If you are planning to stay and enjoy the Poole area you might benefit from staying further east, closer to Bournemouth, which is better value and closer to the lovelier beaches.
