Poole Harbour Commissioners

The Port of Poole is run by the Poole Harbour Commissioners. Brittany Ferries offers twice-daily crossings to Cherbourg in France.

The journey takes about 4 hours, 15 minutes. There is also a fast ferry available from May to September which makes the crossing in just over two hours.

Condor Ferries has a route to St Malo in France taking about 4 hours, 30 minutes. This runs from May to September. Condor Ferries also operates twice-daily services to St Peter Port in Guernsey taking 2 hours, 30 minutes and to St Helier in Jersey, taking 3 hours. The routes to the Channel Islands of Guernsey and Jersey operate from April to October.

There are two ships that sail to Cherbourg and both are run by Brittany Ferries. The Barfleur is one option. It sails to Cherbourg from Poole throughout the year. The ship can hold up to 1,212 passengers and 590 cars and has facilities onboard that include a bureau de change, slot machines, a games room, baggage room, two restaurants, a bar and tourist information services. The other option is taking the high-speed ship, Normandie Vitesse, which can hold up to 752 passengers and 185 cars. This ocean liner has a self-service restaurant, a café, a bureau de change, a baby changing room, slot machines, a games room, a bar, a gift shop and tourist information services.

If your destination is St Malo, Guernsey or Jersey, you'll probably find yourself on either the Condor Express or the Vitesse. Both ships are operated by Condor Ferries. The Express and Vitesse have facilities that include a children's area, a duty-free shop, a café and a bar. These ships can hold up to 726 passengers and 185 cars.
